Ethel Marie Armes (1876-1945) was an American journalist and historian.


Daughter of Col. George Augustus Armes and Lucy Hamilton Kerr, the daughter John Bozman Kerr, Ethel was brought up in Washington, D.C. where she attended private schools and later worked as a reporter for the Washington Post. In 1904 she became engaged to the Japanese poet Yone Noguchi and planned to join him in Japan, but broke off the engagement under scandalous circumstances. She continued to writer for newspapers and authored a number of important historical works. John Bozman Kerr (March 5, 1809—January 27, 1878) was a U.S. Congressman, representing the sixth district of the state of Maryland from 1849 until 1851. ...
