Eufemio Zapata (died June 18, 1915) was the brother of Mexican revolutionary Emiliano Zapata. He was killed by Sidronio "el loco Sidronio" Comancho, one of Zapata's bravest soldiers, because Eufemio had become drunk and in his state, for no particular reason, preceded to beat and insult his Comancho's father. Comancho tracked Eufemio down in Cuatla and was shot in the abdomen. Sidronio Camancho was one of the greatest soldiers of Emiliano Zapata in the Mexican Revolution. ...


Realizing he was about to die, it is said that Eufemio asked the man to end his suffering- and give him a quick death. And to this Camancho replied:



"You have made many people suffer a great deal. Live a little longer, so that you also will learn what it is to suffer."



He then took Eufemio upon his horse,and threw him face-first on an anthill. Camancho, knowing Emiliano would want revenge, joined Zapata's enemies for safety.

By 1897 Zapata’s parents had both died recently in quick succession, and brother Eufemio came to his rescue when Emiliano was arrested that year.
Eufemio was one of the main leaders of the Revolution of the South and a founding member of the “Revolutionary Junta of the South and Center of the Republic” that was established on 2 June 1913.
Eufemio Zapata and the troops under his command were among the first to occupy Mexico City and to be headquartered in the Palacio Nacional, and he was a prominent figure at the subsequent famous first meeting between his brother Emiliano and Francisco “Pancho” Villa in Xochimilco.
