Eugene Izotov (b. 1973) is currently the Principal Oboe of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra[1] appointed by Daniel Barenboim in 2005. He teaches at Roosevelt University and DePaul University. Prior to these posts, he served as the Principal Oboe of the Metropolitan Opera[2], Associate Principal Oboe of the San Francisco Symphony[3], Principal Oboe of the Kansas City Symphony and has taught at the Juilliard School and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. He studied with Ralph Gomberg at Boston University, from which he received the Distinguished Alumnus Award. He received the First Prize at the 2001 Fernand Gillet International Oboe competition and has recorded for Boston Records, Lisem Records, BMG, and Elektra.
