There are many farmers and wonderful people living in Eumseong. They host two cultural festivals in the spring and fall: the Poombah (traditional vagabond) Festival in the spring and the Goochu Chookjeh (Chili Pepper Appreciation) Festival in the fall. Eumseong is famous in Korea for its production of quality red chili peppers. GVCS, an English-speaking Christian boarding school is located in Eumseong Township near the birthplace of Ban Ki Moon.
