Eureka is the only city in Eureka County and is the county seat. Sports The town mascot is the Vandals for the high school and Jr High. The school offers basketball, wrestling, football, softball, volleyball, baseball, track, and academic olympics. In 2005 the football team went to state and lost to Alamo (ranked 3rd in country at maxprep.com). The football team has an excellent track record of making it to playoffs every year and divisions almost 4 times every 5 years. The wrestling team usually have a few people make it to state and has had college-standard wrestlers come through and take state every year, including Jr High.
