EAZA membership is ope to all zoos and aquaria across Europe that are willing to comply with EAZA's standards. Member zoos and aquaria can be found in the following countries: Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Kazakstan, Kuwait, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, and the United Kingdom. Its mission is to promote cooperation for furthering regional collection planning and wildlife conservation, mainly through coordinated breeding programmes of wild animals such as the European Endangered Species Programmes (EEP). The organistion also promotes education. It contributes to relevant meetings and discussions of organisations like the United Nations, IUCN, European Union, CITES, etc. The EAZA also advises the European Union, or other representative committees such as the European Parliament and the European Council.
