CENELEC (French: Comité Européen de Normalisation Electrotechnique) is the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization.
CENELEC is responsible for European Standardization in the area of electrical engineering. Together with ETSI (telecommunication) and CEN (other technical areas) CENELEC form the European system for technical standardization.
CENELEC was founded in 1973. Before that two organizations were responsible for electrotechnical standardization: CENELCOM and CENEL. CENELEC is a non-profit organization under Belgian law, based in Brussels. The members are the national electrotechnical standardization bodies of most European countries.

The European Community for ElectrotechnicalStandardization (CENELEC) is an international body that works with technical professionals from 22 countries to issue standards pertaining to the European market.
Although CENELEC works towards European harmonization, it is influential at the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), where the SCC represents Canada.
