The European walking route E8 The European walking route E8 is a 4700km (2920 miles) long route stretching across Europe, from Cork in Ireland to Istanbul in Turkey.
The route is aimed at walkers, horse riders and cyclists.

Istanbul extends both on the European (Thrace) and on the Asian (Anatolia) side of the Bosphorus, and is thereby the only metropolis in the world which geographically is situated on two continents.
The Golden Horn, a Bosphorus bay running to the west, separates the European part into a southern, between Marmara Sea and Golden Horn lying peninsula which is the historical Istanbul and the northern quarter to the historical Galata.
The old, city centre Istanbul with the quarters EminönĂ¼ and Fatih, located in the south of the European side, are separated by the Golden Horn from the northern part and by the Theodosian wall from the western and younger parts.
