Philippine citizens of European descent

Presently, there are around 3.1 million Philippine citizens who are or are descended wholly or partly from immigrants from the European countries. This figure is based on a genetic study conducted by Stanford University, around 3.6% of all Filipinos have European ancestry, i.e., possess European gene markers.[1] (The study, however, does not define whether the gene markers have come from Old-World Europeans or the Americans.) Most Philippine citizens of European descent maintain cultural norms and practices distinct from the general population and have become recognizably independent in ethnic identity, worldview, social standing, and linguistic heritage.
