The Evangelical Free Baptist Church was incorporated by the state of Illinois in Du Page County in 1978. The group was formed by churches that withdrew from the Southern Baptist Convention, following a doctrinal dispute. It presently has 22 churches and about 2600 members. Headquarters are in Addison, Illinois. A General Conference is held annually. Its ministry consists of establishing churches, examining candidates for ordination, and aiding the local churches in cooperative fellowship. The Evangelical Free Baptist Church accepts the inspiration of the Scriptures, the Virgin Birth, death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, baptism for obedience and the Lord's supper as a memorial, and eternal punishment for sinners and eternal happiness for saints. The eschatology is premillennial.

Holiness Churches, a loose family of some 20 Protestant denominations in Canada that are in general biblically conservative if not fundamentalist, Arminian in theology (ie, rejecting CALVINIST predestination and holding out hope of salvation for all), and advocates of austerity and discipline in lifestyle.
In 1968 the EUB's Ontario section entered the UNITED CHURCH; the Western Conference remained independent as the EvangelicalChurch in Canada and, after its 1982 merger with the EvangelicalChurch of North America, became known as the EvangelicalChurch.
Unlike all the foregoing, the Reformed Baptist Alliance, the result in 1888 of holiness schism within the FreeBaptistChurch, was centered primarily in NB and NS.
