Evasion is a book that spun off from a zine of the same name. It catalogs the travels and exploits of a young man who decided to not get a job or go to school after high school, despite his parents wishes. Deciding that his life, freedom, and time were too valuable to be wasted working in job he would despise, to build profits for a company, he stepped outside of the confines of a traditional role in society. Hitching rides, hopping trains, dumpstering, squatting, shoplifting, contriving receipt scams, and generally sustaining himself on the excesses of our society he redefines himself and reclaims his life. The lack of oversight and security of big business play a paramount role in his plight to never ever work again. The book was published by CrimethInc in 2001.

Evasion creates misallocations in resource use when individuals and firms alter their behavior to cheat on their taxes.
Evasion may contribute to feelings of unfair treatment and disrespect for the law, creating a self-generating cycle that feeds upon itself and leads to even more evasion.
At the same time, the opportunities for evasion have increased, as reflected in a large increase in the number of tax returns (especially those of individuals with "large" incomes) and in the increased use of illegal tax shelters or questionable individual and corporate tax practices.
