Metro Express is a form of expressbus service in Los Angeles County, California, operated by the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority.
Buses are usually express for a portion of the route, then run either local, or limited stop in other areas.
The express portion runs on the El Monte Busway from Union Station to Cal State L.A. From there, Line 485 transitions to I-710 via ramps that connect the busway to I-710: eastbound busway to northbound I-710, and southbound I-710 to westbound busway.
Since, however, the "Ulster Express" starts fourth in the evening procession to the north, it is liable to be affected by the vicissitudes of any one of the three trains in front as far as Rugby, where the Birmingham train diverges.
Neither of the two expresses remaining in front of us is booked to stop at Crewe, but they both have to pass through the station at ten miles an hour, which seems less than walking-pace after a spell at eighty.
Even those that do not stop have to slow down to about ten miles an hour because of the sharp curve beyond the station.
