Evening Primrose was a television musical written in 1966 by Stephen Sondheim and James Goldman for ABC Television's Stage 67. It was based on a short story by John Collier about a poet (Anthony Perkins) who takes refuge from the world by hiding out in a department store after it closes. Once there he finds an entire community of night people who live in the store -most notably a beautiful young girl named Ella (Charmian Carr). Unfortunately for the two young lovers, their relationship is forbidden by the leader of the group, and escape seems like their only option. Evening - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (325 words)
Informally, the evening is the period in which the daylight is decreasing, between the late afternoon and night; it extends from the latter portion of the daylight (before sunset) until dark (after sunset).
Evening is often defined as the period from 6:00pm to midnight, regardless of the time that the sun sets.
From the passages in Matthew 27:46, 57 and Mark 15:34, 42, the New Testament clearly supports the first evening to be the ninth 'hour' of the day (an hour in the Bible defined as 1/12th of the daylight portion of the day), and the second evening, that ends the day, at sunset.
