The Evergreen Political Information Center (EPIC) is a student group at The Evergreen State College with a history of radical political activism. The group was formed in 1973 and is one the oldest student groups at the college. EPIC's mission is to create a sustained community of both political education and action. It has always operated on the consensus model. Throughout its existence EPIC has worked to educate the Evergreen and greater Olympia community on a wide range of issues pertaining to social justice. EPIC has also served as a vehicle for the Evergreen students to challenge the school's administration's decisions. EPIC brings a variety of speakers, hosts events, and every year since 1996 EPIC has compiled the Disorientation Manual, a student created guide to Evergreen and Olympia. Various other students groups have branched out of EPIC, including Carnival, the political arts collective, Prison Action Committee, and Students Organizing for Food Autonomy (SOFA). EPIC in Recent Years

More than any other group at The Evergreen State College, EPIC has been in the foreground in the battle against capitalist globalization. In recent years, EPIC has sponsored teach-ins about the proposed Free Trade Area of the Americas, hosted speakers from the Killer Coke Campaign and The Coalition of Immokalee Workers, hosted the Lost Film Fest, the touring anti-authoritatian media spectacle, hosted movie nights showing documentaries, and held various other workshops and teach-ins with local community activists. EPIC has sent constituents to multiple mass mobilizations including the ministrial meeting of the Free Trade Area of the Americas in November, 2003, and the Inaguration of George W. Bush in January, 2005. Members of EPIC were also instrumental in organizing the DNC to RNC march, a 273 mile march protesting the Democratic and Republican National Conventions in the summer of 2004.
