(March 12, 1890-January 31, 1976) was a Swedish author, artist, composer and singer. He was born on the island of Vinga, Västergötland as the son of Carl Gunnar Taube and Julia Sofia Jacobsdotter. Shopkeeper Gustav Johansson and Evert Taube became close friends, and in the "back room" Taube was offered this and that by Gustav, who Taube nicknamed "Handelsman Flink" due to the fact that Gustav let everything take its course and never hurried.
Flatön means "flat island" in English, and Evert Taube considered this a highly inappropriate name for such a hilly island.
