Episode Recap

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

Brenda gives birth prematurely to a baby girl named Willa. As Willa is under life support, Brenda is haunted by visions of Nate taunting her about the fact that Brenda did not have an amniocentesis. After Willa is healthy enough to be brought home, Brenda has a dream in which Nate and Nathaniel visit. In the dream, Nate tells Brenda that he will always love Willa.

Brenda sends Margaret over to the funeral home to collect Maya from Ruth. Ruth reluctantly gives her up, and becomes severely depressed. George attempts to dissuade her, but she remains obstinate. Finally, she calls Maggie and discovers that Nate was happy the night he had his seizure. This alleviates her pain.

Ted calls Claire over to his apartment, and Claire takes photos of the two of them in bed. Later that day, Claire gets a job offer from a photo production house in New York. Olivier tells Claire that he was responsible for dropping her name. With Ruth in recovery, Claire declares her intentions to stay behind and help her mother. Ruth forbids her from staying behind and orders her to move to New York, promising to unfreeze her trust fund. While Claire is packing, an employee at the photo production house calls and tells her that the company has merged with another company in Chicago, and her job is gone. She then envisions Nate telling her that she should move to New York nonetheless.

Federico discovers that the funeral home is worth two million dollars, and tries to get David to sell. David agrees, but later retracts his decision. He and Keith combine their money and instead buy Federico out. Federico and Vanessa then buy another funeral home and plan to open their own business there.

Keith sends an emotionally unstable David to the funeral home, where he can stay until he has recovered fully from Nate's death. David has a nightmare where Nathaniel sets the figure in the red-hooded sweatshirt on him, and David realizes that the figure is himself. David and Keith then move into the funeral home with Anthony and Durrell and redecorate it.

At Claire's goodbye dinner, everyone reminisces about Nate and toasts his memory.
