Ewa Villages is a census-designated place located in Honolulu County, Hawaii. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 4,741.


Geography

Ewa Villages is located at 21°20'32" North, 158°2'30" West (21.342155, -158.041679)1.


According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 2.5 km² (1.0 mi²). 2.5 km² (1.0 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.


Demographics

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 4,741 people, 1,178 households, and 1,003 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 1,867.9/km² (4,838.6/mi²). There are 1,274 housing units at an average density of 501.9/km² (1,300.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 3.50% White, 0.30% African American, 0.11% Native American, 70.43% Asian, 4.64% Pacific Islander, 0.76% from other races, and 20.27% from two or more races. 8.80% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.


There are 1,178 households out of which 39.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 63.8% are married couples living together, 12.9% have a female householder with no husband present, and 14.8% are non-families. 11.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 7.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 4.02 and the average family size is 4.33.


In the CDP the population is spread out with 27.8% under the age of 18, 9.4% from 18 to 24, 30.2% from 25 to 44, 18.8% from 45 to 64, and 13.8% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 33 years. For every 100 females there are 102.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 100.3 males.


The median income for a household in the CDP is $51,451, and the median income for a family is $52,878. Males have a median income of $28,281 versus $21,491 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $12,883. 8.6% of the population and 6.7% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 10.3% of those under the age of 18 and 16.5% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.

ʻEwa Villages is a housing development and a census-designated place located in the ʻEwa District and the City and County of Honolulu on the leeward side of Oʻahu in Hawai‘i some twenty miles from downtown Honolulu.
Sugar cane is no longer grown on the ʻEwa Plain and ʻEwa is now one of Oʻahu's suburban growth centers—an area of substantial sprawl spreading unbroken to ʻEwa Gentry and ʻEwa Beach on the south, Kalaeloa on the southwest, and Kapolei on the west.
The main east-west thoroughfare in ʻEwa Villages is Renton Road which connects to Kalaeloa and Kapolei to the west.
