It is named after the Great Exhibition of 1851 held in Hyde Park to the north. The road runs between South Kensington tube station and the location of the exhibition in the park. It is bordered by several major museums including the Natural History Museum (incorporating the former Geological Museum), the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Science Museum.
