Expatriate are an indie rock band based in Sydney, Australia. Expatriate consists of Indonesian raised frontman, Ben King, drummer Chris Kollias, keyboardist Damian Press and bassist David Molland. At the close of 2005 the band had toured the nation three times. The second single off the EP 'Killer Kat' gained high rotation on Triple J. A national headline tour (their first) took place in February that sold out. A quick trip overseas in March to London, Toronto, NYC, Los Angeles and Austin brought the band to the attention of many upon hearing their music, Jim Kerr personally invited the band to support Simple Minds on the Australian leg of their world tour during May. July and August saw Expatriate head off to Seattle to record their debut album with John Goodmanson (Death Cab for Cutie, Blonde Redhead, Wu Tang Clan) This was followed by a tour of Los Angeles and London before heading back to Australia for a seven-week national tour with Something for Kate.
