Expedia.com is an Internet-based travel agency, part of Expedia, Inc.(NASDAQEXPE), headquartered in Bellevue, Washington, USA. It books airline tickets, hotel reservations, car rentals, cruises, vacation packages, and various attractions and services via the World Wide Web and telephone travel agents. The company serves customers in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom, the United States and now, India and New Zealand. Founded as a division of Microsoft in October 1996,[1] Expedia was spun off in 1999, and was purchased by USA Networks in 2001 [1] (USA changed its name to InterActiveCorp in 2003 [2]). IAC spun off its travel group of businesses under the Expedia name in August 2005, including Expedia, Expedia Corporate Travel, TripAdvisor, Classic Vacations®, eLong, Hotels.com, and Hotwire.com. In 2006, Expedia was awarded a Webby Award in the area of "Best In Travel Websites" [3], a Stevie Award from the American Business Association for "Most Innovative Company" [4], as well as the top rating in customer satisfaction across online travel agencies by the American Customer Satisfaction Index. [5] Presented by The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, the Webby Awards are a set of awards presented to the worlds best websites. The awards have been given out since 1996. ...


Of note, some customers have been unsatisfied with various aspects of Expedia.com products and services. Customer complaints include lost reservations, erroneous hotel accommodations, poor customer service, bad pricing policy, and failure to post negative reviews online at Expedia.com.
