Encyclopedia > Exploding Fist

The Way of the Exploding Fist is a "Beat 'em up"-type fighting videogame for the ZX Spectrum, BBC Micro, Commodore 64 and Commodore 16. It was developed in 1985 and was one of the first games to include realistic graphics and movements. Combining direction keys and "fire" key you could achieve up to 16 different movements, including somersault, circular kick and low punch.

AAW: Fist of the North Star (Movie) Review (1427 words)
Fist of the North Star is set in a pretty classic Mad Max-esque post apocalyptic world, replete with big, ugly bad guys terrorizing defenseless villagers, but it distinguishes itself from some of the more "realistic" movies in the post-apocalyptic and splatterfest genres in how far over the top the villains are.
Speaking of exploding, Fist of the North Star distinguishes itself from many in the genre it founded by the glee with which the graphic violence is executed (again, intentional choice of words).
Art-wise, Fist of the North Star offers about what you'd expect from a theatrical movie made in the mid 80's: chunky character designs leaning toward realistic proportions (very similar to the TV series), slightly rough art, and generally bleak (a good thing, being that this is the post-apocalypse), loosely painted backgrounds.
