Several heroes split from the main Justice League over dissatisfaction with the League's association with the United Nations. These characters formed their own Justice League (although the team never referred to itself as Extreme Justice at any point in the title), based out of a base in Mount Thunder, Colorado. The team was led by Captain Atom and consisted of Maxima, Blue Beetle, Booster Gold, and Amazing Man. They were later joined by Firestorm, Plastique, and the Wonder Twins Zan and Jayna.
