moock>> web>> flash>> actionscript>> fps speedometer (492 words)
fps, or frames per second, is the setting in flash that dictates to the flash player how fast to play back a movie.
fps can be set from 0.01 to 120, causing frames to be displayed at the rate of as little as 1 frame every hundred seconds to as many as 120 frames in a single second.
fps is like a speed limit: you can tell a movie not to play faster than the specified fps, and all machines will obey, but you can't tell a movie to stay above a certain frame rate.
FPS - The Federation of Piling Specialists (1043 words)
This handbook was published in March 2006 by the FPS to provide guidance on the principles and practical issues that relate to load testing of bearing piles, and thereby to assist informed decisions about testing requirements on construction projects involving piled foundations.
The FPS anticipates that this handbook will be of particular interest to civil or structural engineers with little or no experience of piling who find themselves in the position of specifying load testing requirements on a project involving piled foundations.
In recognition of this the FPS encourages member companies to develop and use improved technologies to ensure that risk from the exposure of employees to vibration is either eliminated at source or, where this is not reasonably practicable, reduced to as low a level as is reasonably practicable.
