Fab Five Freddy, born Fred Braithwaite, is a rapper whose name appeared in the mainstream through a namecheck in Blondie's single "Rapture" and his appearance in the video for that single. In 1988 he became the first hip-hopVJ by hosting the MTVmusic video show entitled "Yo! MTV Raps".
NEW YORK (AP) -- Max Roach, the master percussionist whose rhythmic innovations and improvisations defined bebop jazz during a wide-ranging career where he collaborated with artists from Duke Ellington to rapperFabFiveFreddy, has died after a long illness.
Roach even worked with rapperFabFiveFreddy in the early 1980s.
He was survived by five children: sons Daryl and Raoul, and daughters Maxine, Ayl and Dara.
