Fabian Manning is a Newfoundland politician, and the Conservative candidate for the riding of Avalon in the 2006 Canadian election. Born in St. Bride's he served three terms on that town's council before being elected to the Newfoundland and Labrador House of Assembly in 1993 as a Progressive Conservative. In May 2005 he was ejected from the Progressive Conservative caucus when he publicly attacked the government's crab management policies. He thus sat as an independent for the rest of his term. I think that FabianManning has an excellent shot of winning this riding, people in the riding will remember that he spoke up for them this past spring-going beyond party lines- during the crab dispute here in Newfoundland, that should be enough to get him in.
