He made his debut in 1995 against Romania and has since won over 100-caps.

Pelous has proved himself an inspirational captain for France since succeeding Fabien GalthiƩ ahead of the 2004 RBS 6 Nations. Enjoyed immediate success after leading Les Bleus to the Grand Slam in his first year and followed that up with a second-placed finish in 2005.

Pelous also helped Toulouse win the European Cup in 2005 before missing the summer test matches with a serious knee injury. He returned to action in September and was back to help France to a 26-16 win over Australia in November. However, Pelous was handed a nine-week ban in the aftermath of that victory after being found guilty of elbowing Australia hooker Brendan Cannon.

Veteran lock Fabien Pelous, who is to succeed Fabien Galthie as captain of France, was back in training on Wednesday for his club Toulouse over three weeks after twisting a knee.
Pelous' chances of recovering full fitness in time to turn out for France against Ireland in the Six Nations Championship on February 14 look to have improved after his trouble-free return to training.
Pelous captained France 15 times between 1997 and 2002, and took over from Galthie when the scrumhalf was injured for the last three matches of the 2003 Six Nations.
