Encyclopedia > Face the Heat

Face the Heat was an album released by Scorpions in 1993 (see 1993 in music). It was their 16th album, released after Crazy World. It was produced by the band and the late Bruce Fairbairn. It was released on the Polygram Records label. This album marked their status as a sort of political band with the song, "Alien Nation". Many great ballads are on this album. This album has a kind of modern touch to it, as the band were then going with the current trends, before later returning to their original style in Unbreakable in 2004. The RE-Heater Heat Pack contains sodium acetate, a form of salt, which under normal conditions in an open container will change from a liquid to a solid (freeze) at 130F (54C).
Flexing the patented stainless steel "trigger" within the sealed container causes a single molecule of liquid to crystallize which starts a chain reaction causing the entire solution to change from a liquid to a solid.
By placing the pack in water with a temperature greater than 135F (57C), the crystals are returned to a liquid state.
