Fair Oak is a small village on the outskirts of Eastleigh near Southampton and Winchester with a population of around 10,000. It has 3 schools - infant, junior and a secondary school called Wyvern Technology College, which is host to a large gym for public use. It is home to a football team in the Southampton tyro league. There is also a Christian school called 'The Kings School'. The village itself has been in existence for hundreds of years and has a history of sand quarrying. Some of the newer parts of the village are built over old restored quarries. Its parish incorporates the neighbouring village of Horton Heath, which lies to the south. In August 2005 the village played host to Life Outside:The Festival, a week-long Christian outreach programme which was based at the Wyvern Technology College campus. This was followed in August 2006 with Life Outside: The Weekend and Life Outside: The Bank Holiday is scheduled for 2007. The village is home to two scout groups, the 7th Eastleigh, which is based by the village hall and the biggest group in the District the 8th Eastleigh, based next to the Oven Door Bakery.
Fair Oak has four pubs; The George, The Cricketers, The New Clock Inn and The Fox and Hounds.
