Adjacent to Fairfield Halls is a small green patch of garden - designed to be aesthetically pleasing to the average croydoner's eye (as Croydon possesses very little green space). However, this small patch of land became a frequent hangout for underage drinkers in Croydon. These underage drinkers were of the "grunger" variety (See Whitgift Centre Article) and got inebriated on cheap vodka purchased in less-than-savoury off licenses.
