Fairview is a town located in Collin County, Texas, United States. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 2,644. Current estimates have the population at about 5000. The town was incorporated in 1958 with a population of 50. While the town motto is "Keeping It Country," the town still maintains the best of both worlds -- up-scale living in a beautiful rural atmosphere, while being just minutes away from fine shopping and dining throughout the Dallas Ft. Worth Metroplex. The community is marked by large houses on large lots, expansive open spaces, numerous horse farms, excellent schools, rolling hills, expansive hardwoods, and beautiful creeks. The town is adjacent to the 289-acre Heard Wildlife Sanctuary, which hosts more than 240 species of birds, mammals, reptiles and amphibians and nearly 150 species of wildflowers and other plants. Heritage Ranch, a 575 acre residential development for senior citizens, was created in the late 1990s, complete with an 18-hole, par 72 7,040 golf course. Fairview is served by three excellent public school districts. Approximately half of the town, the east side, is in the Lovejoy Independent School District[1]. The LISD currently operates two elementary schools, and pays the Allen, Texas Independent School District to send students to Allen middle and high schools. This arrangement will soon change, however, since an LISD secondary school is now under construction. Beginning in the fall of 2006, students will no longer advance to Allen ISD's secondary schools, with the class of 2010 entering the new high school facility. LISD owns two parcels of land in Fairview that are planned to house new schools. The McKinney Independent School District serves the western side of Fairview (west of Meandering Way) and a small area in the far northeast.
