At first, he wasn't a major character in the Crash Bandicoot series. He was only seen as a hidden extra in Crash Bandicoot: Warped, and as an unlockable character in Crash Team Racing. His first major role was in Crash Bandicoot 2: N-Tranced, when he was mistaken for the real Crash by N. Trance and brainwashed into fighting alongside him. He was the third boss in the game, where he mirrored Crash's moves. After he was defeated, he joined forces with Crash and helped defeat N. Trance. He joined the Bandicoot family after Nefarious Tropy's defeat. His next appearance was as an unlockable character in Crash Nitro Kart. He raced for the Bandicoot Team, who were in the blue karts. Trivia - He was originally created by Naughty Dog when the team saw a cheap Crash toy with large teeth and eyebrows. They nicknamed the toy "Trash Bandicoot", and turned it into the character named Fake Crash.
- Fake Crash is of Japanese origin, and as a result is one of the most popular Crash characters there. This is probably why he was chosen to be a playable character in Crash, Boom, Bang!
- Unlike Crash, Fake Crash can apparantly speak English. This is hinted in the GBA version of Crash Nitro Kart upon being unlocked. He appears to be rather hesitant in his speech.
- Fake Crash made another appearance in Crash Bandicoot Purple: Ripto's Rampage, inside Dragon Castles. He's seen being closely chained to a wall, and didn't speak in this game.
- He originally wore blue pants since he's Crash duplicate, but then wore green pants afterwards.
