Fannette Island is the only island in Lake Tahoe, California/Nevada, United States. It lies within Emerald Bay. The island contains what is left of "Tea House", a building built by the owner of Vikingsholm, Mrs. Lora Josephine Knight. Fannette Island, along with Vikingsholm and Emerald Bay, is a part of Emerald Bay State Park. It is accessible only by boat. FannetteIsland is the only island to be found in all of Lake Tahoe -- a sparsely timbered, brush covered upthrust of granite that rises 150 feet above the water.
Althought the island is small, the sides are steep and covered with thick shrubs which make movement from one side to another difficult.
Please note that the island is CLOSED from February 1 thru June 15 due to nesting Canadian geese.
