Last Voyage (273 words)
Launched on 15 July 1958 and commissioned on 10 December 1960, Farragut was the fourth ship in the Navy to bear the name.
Farragut's motto was "Damn the torpedos, full speed ahead!" On 24 October 1975 Farragut ran aground while departing Den Helder, Netherlands for Brest, France and damaged both sonar domes.
Farragut was decommissioned on 31 October 1989 and sold as scrap on 16 December 1994.
