Faun Fables is the name of the atmospheric, slightly witchy psych folk music of Dawn McCarthy. Currently on the Drag City label, her performances draw on many influences, from British, Scandanavian, Appalachian and Eastern European musics, like Ewa Demarczyk, to rockin' rock and dancin' disco explosions, and often contain elements of theater - puppet shows and dances are common elements. She is often lumped in with other neo-psych-folk artists like Devendra Banhart, and Current 93. Psych folk or Psychedelic folk is a music genre which began through the blending of folk music and psychedelic music in the 1960s. ...
