Originally founded in november 2003 as Liberaldemocratici - Lista per Milano Città Metropolitana by a split from the Federation of the Greens, and based in Milan, the FLD has enjoyed the local provincial elections in 2004 with the former name, and after with the new name has run the suppletive elections for the Chamber of Deputies (Camera dei Deputati) in October 2004, and the election for the president of the Lombardia Region (the speaker and frontman of the FLD, Mr. Marco Marsili, was in challenge for the post among only other 3 candidates).
