Federico Crescentini (13th April1982 - 15th December2006) was a soccer player, a defender for the tiny nation of San Marino, for whom he made six appearances.[1] He died while on holiday in Acapulco, Mexico when he tried to help a friend in trouble, but despite rescuing her, he was drowned.[1] He was the third footballer to drown in the space of a single week, after Juventus FC's youth players Riccardo Neri and Alessio Ferramosca drowned at the club's training ground. At the time of his death, he was only 24.
