In addition to nematological studies, Federico was involved in research on the protist Plasmodiophora brassicae, the causal agent of stem galls on many cruciferous crops, and also on viruses of tomato and banana.
Federico Dao D. was involved with ONTA during the formative years in the establishment of this organization and served on the Executive Committee.
Federico was president of ONTA in 1973-1974 and received the ONTA Past President Award at the 7th ONTA Annual Meeting held in Riverside, California in 1974.

A degree of stability was accomplished following the impeachment of Presiden t Miguel Mariano GÛmez (1890-1950) by the senate, which was controlled by Fulgencio Batista ZaldÌvar, in 1936.
With the support of Batista, the head of the Cuban army and unofficial dictator of Cuban, the new president, the former political leader and soldier Federico Laredo Br™ (1875-1946), put into operation a program of social and economic reform.
Batista won the presidential contest of 1940 defeating RamÛn Grau San Martin, the opposition candidate.
