Encyclopedia > Fellside Records

Fellside Records was formed and is still run by Paul and Linda Adams, in 1976 in Cumbria. Starting as a folk/acoustic label. They issued jazz under the name "Lake" and Children's records as "small folk".

Fellside Records FECD156 (2001), 2-CD This double-CD release comes from Fellside, one of the most significant of England's small folk music labels.
The resulting CD is the equal of Fellside's other great compilations of traditional songs, including "Voices" and "A Selection from the Penguin Book of English Folksongs," and it would be worth buying on its own merits alone.
Fellside has spent a quarter of a century presenting and discovering the tradition's great new voices, and this set reflects that very well.
