Vibeke Stene (born August 17, 1978) is a vocalist in the Norwegiangoth metal band Tristania. She has been with the band since it was formed in 1997. First she was meant to be only an additional singer, but later on she joined the band permanently after the band realised that she was what they needed.
Stene's singing has become legendary to the goth metal fans, especially because her voice cannot be compared to any other gothic singers. Her amazing operaticsoprano voice suits perfectly into Tristania's music and makes it so special.
On their first releases the band had a sound based on fl metal riffs with dominant eerie keyboard and powerful drums, which releases Tristania put a lot of focus around operaticfemalevocals, haunting choruses and classical instruments such as pipe organ, flutes and violins.
This combination of death vocals with femaleoperatics and majestic gothic choruses is believed by many fans to have reached its pinnacle on their Beyond the Veil album.
The growling vocals on this album were sung by Ronny Thorsen, a member of Trail of Tears, and the clean vocals were sung by Jan Kenneth Barkverd and Østen Bergøy.
Sirenia combines strong melodic instrumentals, synthesizers, and metal guitars with light femalevocals, male death vocals, clean male vocals, a choir, and violins.
This album is also notable for concluding with a slow and melodic ballad "In Sumerian Haze", with Fabienne Gondamin's delicate voice set to the sound of emotional violin playing.
Bordvik's replacement, Monika Pedersen of the band Sinphonia, was introduced on April 10, 2006.
