Fergie played his first set at the age of 14 in his native Larne. Allegedly a milk crate was used so that he could reach the decks. Being underage, he was soon ejected from the premises by the police. He followed this by building his reputation at Armagh's The Met, promoted by friend Mark Dobbin. Before moving to London he met Tony de Vit while DJing at Lush! in Kelly's, Portrush. De Vit would become Fergie's mentor, playing together at Trade in Turnmills. In 2002 he was hired by BBC Radio 1 to present a late night weekend slot. His original show was Friday night 11:00pm - 1:00am, but later moved to a Saturday night slot 11:00pm - 1:00am. In September 2006 Fergie left Radio 1 due to the station's schedule revamp on evening and weekend shows. He is often a matchday sponsor of his local football team Larne F.C.. In 2002 he DJed at the club's Inver Park stadium in his Homecoming tour. He is also a columnist for Mixmag. He has released a number of mix albums for Godskitchen and Ministry of Sound, as well releasing several singles of his own work. Fergie then spent two months in England and was introduced to the English club scene by his biggest influence Tony De Vit.
Fergie is fast becoming one of the country's most sought after DJ's, With all this demand Fergie needed someone to take care of him, so he approached Duty Free Artist Management and is now managed by Steffan Chandler.
Fergie has also signed an exclusive 3 single deal with Duty Free Recordings and as soon as he signed on the dotted line he went straight into the studio and came out with his first release, "DECEPTION", out on the 28th August.
