Figaleia (Φιγαλεία) is a municipality in the Elis Prefecture, Greece. Population 2,499 (2001). The seat of the municipality is in Nea Figaleia. Figaleia a city of Arcadia was once one of the most powerful cities in the political country.
Pafsanias mentions to Figaleia the existence of priests from the Temple of Artemidos, the existence of Dionisos and Evrinomis as well as a Gymnasium and an Agora along with the statues of Hermes and the Olympic champion Arachiona.A statue is on display at the Museum of Olympia and it is believed to depict Arrachiona.
Also mentioned in the Agora, were the people of Polyandriou of Oresthasion who helped the people of Figaleia expel the conquerors of Lakedaimonia (passed 659 B.C.).
