When they create a background for a fantasy game, the authors generally integrate ‘standard’ monsters like Orcs, Goblins, The Living Dead (Skeletons, Zombies, Mummies), Warriors of Chaos (Evil humans), ect
To make the Game individual and to differentiate it from a traditional fantasy Game, original monsters are included; such was the case of Skavens, Zoats and Fimirs for Warhammer Battle.
Fimirs were created by Graeme Davis and Jes Godwin at the end of the Eighties for WJDR and the 3rd edition of WFB. Fimirs had only the lifespan of one edition and half (3 years) and disappeared with the 4th edition from WFB. There very few sources exist on Fimirs apart from the bestiary of WFRP, an article in White Dwarf n°102, the third edition of WFB (Bestiary and Warhammer Armies) and some references in supplements. With regard to the Miniatures there are two Miniatures at the "correct size" i.e. a size between 1m80 and 2m10: Fimirs (Fimms Warriors) of the Hero Quest Game published by MB (which were replaced by The Skaven in Advanced Hero Quest) and Fimir (a Miniatures of Fimms Warriors in limited edition). One can also find Fimirs by Nick Bibby the size of ogres (which has to involve the controversy)
concept sketches of Miniatures made by Jes Goodwin represented creatures with a human size and the characteristics of Fimirs reflected this fact. But when Nick Bibby started to sculpt the Miniatures of Fimirs, he did them the size of Ogres. Also with WFB, they were not powerful enough compared to the price of the figurine. It was officially decided that it was the fault of the authors. In the end, WFRP was published with Zoats and Fimirs, and nether of the two races appeared in Warhammer Fantasy Battle and disappeared from the background.
