An ugly, one-eared rat, Finn is a miner during The Dark Portal, along with Smiler. He is the only rat to see through Oswald Chitter's false claims of being a rat. He attempts to grow his confidence, but eventually attempts to murder him. One of the larger confrontations of the book follows, where Finn surrounds the hapless albino runt. While defending himself, Oswald accidentally knocks Finn's knife from his hand, causing it to fall to the floor, where it sticks in a crack, blade-up. Oswald then shoves the rat, who topples over onto the knife. He is killed instantly. The ear is the sense organ that detects sounds. ...
