Finnish Meteorological Institute (Ilmatieteen laitos) is a government agency, which is a central place responsible for gathering and reporting weather data and forecasts in Finland. It operates semi-autonomously from Ministry of Transport and Communications (Liikenne- ja viestintäministeriö) which it is under.

Finnish Meteorological Institute (FMI) is providing a pressure sensing instrument named Barobit for the Mars Express/Beagle2 -mission (launch 2003) and for Mars NetLander -mission (launch 2007).
Beagle2 is a small lander carried aboard the Mars Express orbiter and eventually separated for landing on the surface of Mars.
Last is a long period fluctuation of pressure caused by seasonal condensation and evaporation of CO to and from the polar caps, causing the surface pressure to vary by about 25 % over the course of the year.
