In Polish mythology, fire flowers are mystical blooms. To find this powerful plant the seeker had to enter a forest before midnight on the Eve of Kupala. The flower would climb up the stalk of the fern, and precisely at midnight it would bloom so brightly that no one could look directly at it. In order to harvest it a circle had to be drawn around it, and the seeker had to deal with demons trying to distract him/her from doing so. It was said that if you answered the voices, or faltered during the task, it would sacrifice its own life. Anyone possessing this flower gained the ability to read minds, find treasure, and repel all evils. Slavic mythology and Slavic religion evolved over more than 3,000 years. ... In Christian contexts, demons such as Satan are often depicted in a grotesque fashion. ...
Like the Starman, FireFlower's "flashing" colors were achieved by quickly rotating through several palettes.
Fire Mario's trademark distinction is his all-white or mostly-white suit in many of the Mario games; however, Fire Mario is bright orange all over in the original version of Super Mario Bros. 3, and has a feather in his cap in Super Mario Land 2 for Game Boy.
FireFlowers are routinely acquired when Mario hits a "?" block from below, but sometimes they're hidden in brick blocks or music-note blocks.
