General information

  • The Terran Firebat is a unit in StarCraft, a computer simulated real-time strategy game made by Blizzard Entertainment.
  • A Firebat costs 50 minerals, 25 gas, and 1 food supply in game.
  • A Firebat has 50 hit points, and is protected by 1 base armour.
  • A Firebat is able to use the special ability stimpack once it is researched, which will increase his attack and movement speed at a cost of 10 hit points.
  • A Firebat has greater effect against organic targets. A group of Firebats boosted by Stimpacks can slay a much larger force of Zerglings.
  • A Firebat does ground-to-ground area effected (also known as splash) damage that causes 16 damage to other ground units at a short range. An observant campaign editor might find that the Firebat actually hits three different times, yet apparently does 8 damage as opposed to the 16 in the normal game. This suggests that perhaps the first and third hit do damage, 8 apiece, but if you don't hit the second hit perhaps you don't hit the first.
  • A Firebat's 'extra' sayings include a quote from the tv show, "King of the Hill."

StarCraft - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (3178 words)
Blizzard is working on a third person shooter, StarCraft: Ghost to be released in 2006; the change in genre from RTS to TPS and absence of a PC version aroused considerable protests among many of the StarCraft faithful, though others eagerly anticipate the game.
The origin of this unusually high level of popularity is likely a combination of StarCraft's suitability for competitive multiplayer and the fact that it was released during the beginning of the boom in popularity of "cybercafes" in Seoul, resulting in a perfect opportunity for the game to catch on.
StarCraft even became an inspiration for the creation of official novels and eBooks (which were generally not especially well-received by fans).
