Overview
The project is being developed with an intended audience of novice and intermediate computer users in mind. The Firemonger compilation will therefore allow them to install and begin using the browser and e-mail client without the hassle of having to find and install the needed files. The CD jacket presents a big orange flame, logo of Firemonger. The autorun launches Firefox to display the guide. The user can then choose between different installations, Firefox, Thunderbird, or themes and extensions for both of those programs. Beginners guides are also included, describing each different feature of Firefox and Thunderbird, from pop-up blocking to spell-checker and download manager, and how-to's explaining installation, use and the highlights of included themes and extensions.
Background The Firemonger Project was founded by James Wierick in September 2004 and was originally called FirefoxCD. It was renamed The Firemonger Project in November 2004. In July 2005, The Firemonger Project merged with the MozCD Project, combining the advantages of both projects for the v2.0 release. Over time it has been contributed to by many people who enjoy using Firefox and Thunderbird and want others to benefit from these quality, free programs.
Current version As of September 2005, the current version of Firemonger is 1.04c. The next major update will be coming out simultaneously with Firefox 1.5 and will also be titled 1.05. The Firemonger Project's next release will use the MozCD technology, in order to make the CD more user-friendly and improve updating tasks for the project's translators.
