Further information

The song made it onto the soundtrack of the 2005 film Herbie: Fully Loaded, which also featured Lohan. The song did poorly in the United States and failed to chart, but performed better in many other countries, including charting in the top 10 both in Taiwan and Indonesia. It just missed out on making the top 30 in Australia by one position (#31). The song is of the pop-rock genre like most of the tracks from her debut. The song is about Lindsay wanting to come before any other girl in her boyfriend's mind. In the movie, however, it is taken as wanting to finish first in a car race. Something - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (1510 words)
Harrison lifted the first line of his song from James Taylor's "Something in the Way She Moves," and used it to write a working lyric ("Something in the way she moves / Attracts me like a pomegranate", in the vein of "Scrambled Eggs," the original lyrics to "Yesterday".
The song was an instant hit, leading to a record first – the Beatles decided to release "Something" as a single in the United Kingdom, an unprecedented incident, as beforehand, the Beatles and the late Brian Epstein had objected to releasing songs still available on an album as a single.
The release of "Something" as a single was George Harrison's first time as the writer of a song on the A-side of a Beatles single.
The Analysis of Song (7091 words)
This strategy was intensified at the dénoument of the song, when the approach to the V of IV was delayed by a marvelous chromatic prolongation of the mediant (whose local function was to prepare the V of IV).
Müller also isolates the first six stanzas from the last two through his rhyme scheme: the "gab" and "Grab" of the first stanza are reversed in the sixth stanza, a reprise that effectively closes off the mental space established by the preceding five stanzas without resorting to a literal refrain.
The first stanza of the poem is set in C minor, the second in G minor; a close study of the voice leading shows that the funtion of the latter key is to prolong C minor.
