Many individuals have complained about the quality of the sound, or lack thereof, in this venue. It has been long rumored, though thus far unsubstantiated, KISS is the reason the sound in the venue has been so shoddy for the past 15 years. The rumor is, when rechristened the NEW World Music Theater, Cher was actually the first artist to play the venue, which was hardly cause for alarm amongst the communities surrounding the amphitheater. The next scheduled show was a stop on KISS' Hot In The Shade tour. The uproar over the sound of the concert from neighboring communities forced the Tinley Park local government to enforce their municipal ordinances regarding noise, thus the sound equipment was drastically changed to accommodate the decibel levels in the ordinance, resulting in horrible sound for the spectators unless one is sitting in one of the sections directly in front of the stage. Whatever the impetus, the sound at the venue is typically described as a hodgepodge of noise and static by a majority of concert patrons.[1] Kiss is an American rock band formed in New York City in 1973. ...
