Encyclopedia > Five Points, Detroit

The street known as "Five Points" is the western most border of the city of Detroit. It lays a few blocks west of US-24 (a major traffic artery serving the north and south ends of the metro area). Originally, this street and everything about 4 1/2 miles east of it belonged to Redford township (a suburb of detroit)and was leased to the city in the late 19th century.

The area is now known as "Old Redford" and stretches from Five Points east to Greenfield and from 8 Mile to School craft. This area encompasses approximately 8 to 10 square miles of land.
